MiLi Power Rover 8000mAh Portable Battery Pack Review

MiLi is a brand known for their myriad of portable battery packs and the Power Rover is the largest capacity we’ve had our hands on from them. MiLi claims that this 8000mAh Lithium Polymer charger is sufficient enough to charge your iPhone up to 5 times and your iPad up to about a half.

Out of the box the MiLi Power Rover looks like a portable hard drive. The casing has a ribbed rubbery finish so you don’t need to worry about it slipping off your hands or getting your greasy fingerprints on it.

It’s lighter than what I expected for a battery that claims to have the ability to charge an iPad (a little over 200 grams), and thin enough to be easily stowed in your bag, which gives it good marks for portability.

It has a couple of ports to charge two devices at the same time and a microUSB for charging the battery pack itself.

There’s a button on the lower left corner to power the device on and also to bring up the four LED indicator lights to let you know how much charge the unit has left.

We’ve had the opportunity to use this for a while and it seems to work as advertised, do take note though that the amount of devices it can charge varies depending on the device, I was able to charge my iPhone (1430mAh) twice and the Huawei Ascend D1 Quad XL (2600mAh) once and a little more before the battery drained.

It’s also nice to know that you can also use this to charge those tablets that require more voltage power.

The only gripe I had with the device is that because you use a USB cable to charge the device it takes a really long time to bring it to full capacity if you charge it using your PC’s USB port (up to 16 hours!), and since this is a Li-Po battery, you know you have to drain your battery at least once a month to make sure it’s properly maintained.

The MiLi Power Rover is already available for Php4,650 and should appeal those who bring multiple gadgets with them at all times.
