Nokia brought two fun camera features found on their Windows 8 phones into the rest of their Lumia phones. The Cinemagraph and the Camera Extras are already available for the Nokia Lumia 900, 800, and 710, and will soon arrive to the Lumia 610 and 510.
Cinemagraph is somewhat similar to Samsung’s Drama Shot where you can take a burst of photos of a moving object and combine it into one photo. This photo is then saved into an animated GIF format to create a sequence of action in one file.
To make things look more professional, you can choose to animate a particular area which the software can detect. Take for example a picture of a waterfalls with the water actually falling but everything else is stationary.
Next up is the Camera Extras app which brings Smart Shoot, Panorama, Action Shot, and a self-timer to the camera on your old Lumia phones. The most interesting here would be the Smart Shoot which can do two things – change faces and remove unwanted objects from a photo.
Smart Shoot takes a sequence of photos and lets you choose the best faces and combine them into one photo so that there will be no person with closed eyes on that group photo. Well not unless you picked everybody to have their eyes closed.
Smart Shoot also lets you remove those people who advertently got into the frame as you take the shot. Similar to Samsung’s Eraser camera feature. The software will automatically suggest objects to be removed from the image and all you need to do is confirm it.
It’s good to know that Nokia is still committed in updating older Lumia phones by putting features found on their new WP8 phones. These new features require the Windows Phone 7.8 update. You can find more details about this update here.
