Polaroid Elixir tablets choose Intel Atom processors

Expanding its tablet line, Polaroid announces two new tablets bearing the Elixir name. The Elixir 7 and Elixir 10 are equipped with an Intel Atom processor which could offer fast performance and long battery life compared to other dual or quad-core ARM-based chips.

The Elixir 7 has a 7-inch screen with a 1024 x 600 resolution while the Elixir 10 has a 10-inch screen with a 1280 x 800 display resolution. Both tablets are powered by a single-core 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2460 processor along with 1GB RAM. This makes it slightly better than the ASUS Fonepad processor-wise.

Both tablets are also equipped with a 2-megapixel rear camera plus a VGA front-facing one. Storage options start at 8GB up to 32GB with support for a microSD card. These tablets supports 3G dongles and there’s a mini-HDMI port as well so you can easily connect them to a bigger screen.

As for battery life, the Elixir 7 sports a 4100mAh battery while the Elixir 10 has a 6600mAh battery. Those should do well in the battery life department when used together with the Intel Atom chip.

Expect these tablets to start hitting the shelves next month. Prices haven’t been disclosed yet but they should be relatively affordable.
